Visual SourceSafe (often called VSS) is a legacy, centralized version control system used to track and manage source code and documents. It provides check-in/check-out with optional exclusive locking, version history, labeling, and basic branching and merging, and it integrates with older versions of Visual Studio and other IDEs on Windows. Repositories are stored on a shared network file system, which makes setup simple for small, co-located teams but less reliable and scalable for larger or distributed projects. The product has been discontinued and is not recommended for new work; teams are encouraged to migrate to modern alternatives such as Git-based platforms or Azure DevOps.

Visual Source Safe is developed by Centrica. The most popular version of this product among our users is 6.0. The name of the program executable file is SSADMIN.EXE.

You can check Code Visual Editor, Source Edit, Visual IRC and other related programs like Visual-MinGW at the "download" section.
